I would like to draw your attention to the kind way .We were treated . By sam the owner .At Bateman and Lynch cars .In tavistock. It's all very well having a nice saleman . when you're spending a lot of money . We agreed on the car on the Saturday. Paid the deposit. but on the Monday we changed our mind .I was not looking forward to explaining, I changed my mind . Sam the owner was still nice And even gave me my deposit back. I would like to share. This extremely stress free experience. With you . Ifeel you are in safe hands with sam . Would definitely rate him five stars . Threw experience.

Just picked up my car this morning. Exceptional service from start to finish. A special mention to Sam who was brilliant. Car was exactly what I wanted, at the right price, and the condition was excellent. I'm from Plymouth, and normally travel across the country to get the right car, but will certainly be searching Bateman and Lynch Tavistock when I am in the market for a new one... ........ Update 11/3/23... 11 months on and my timing chain snapped which is a notorious issue with these cars by all accounts at 90,000 miles, and should be changed as part of the service. I was sold this car at 87,500+ miles (with an Oil and filter service), and not advised I would have to part with thousands within a mere few thousand miles of ownership. As a result I got to 92,000 miles and it snapped causing a horrendous amount of money to correct. I believe some people would have scrapped it, however being that I have only had it 11 months I decided to keep it. The car was sold shining like a new penny, however I would have rather have purchased it covered in mud if the timing chain had been done, or I had at least been advised. I'm not petty enough to change my review score as I know Business in the modern era depend/thrive on them. I'm so gutted, I at least had to vent a little. I have no doubt they have sold hundreds of reputable/reliable vehicles, it's just now that I am aware of this fault it seems that it is such common knowledge, and although I was blissfully unaware, anyone in the motor trade would have known. Disappointed

It's been a very eventful experience buying my Land Rover Discovery Sport from Sam at Bateman and Lynch cars. Full disclosure: This was quite an expensive purchase, it wasn't a great deal in my opinion but the service I received more than justified the cost. I had a check engine light the day after delivery. I sent Sam a WhatsApp message and he called me in 10 minutes. I had already plugged my OBS reader in so I knew it was an EGR issue. He told me to take it to my preferred dealer and he would phone them and explain it was a new car and ask if they could expedite things (he would cover the full cost). They diagnosed it and determined that it needed to go to Land Rover to fix fully. Sam got it booked in for me at Land Rover Newbury and the 3 month warranty that was provided for me at purchase covered recovery to the dealership. Long story short, there were problems with the warranty who refused to authorise the work and this all lasted about a month. To be fair to Sam, within 2 weeks of them having it he had told them that if AutoProtect still weren't covering it, he would pay for it and try and get the money back from AutoProtect at a later date. This was over Christmas so that did delay the process by a week or so. Sam was very communicative with me the whole time it was at Land Rover Newbury and strived to get everything sorted as much as he could from his end (bear in mind Bateman & Lynch is 200 miles from me so he wasn't exactly able to pop out and sort anything). The other issue we discovered on delivery was that one of the keys didn't work. Sam was very apologetic and called local mobile key repair firms near me and booked a recode/replacement as soon as possible. Due to it having to go the garage, this didn't end up happening till this week but he had paid fully up front so it was just up to me to work with them to book a time that worked. The only expense to me throughout this whole endeavour was temporary insurance on our previous vehicle we were planning to sell. This totalled ~600 and Sam covered it once the Land Rover was back with us from LR Newbury. The EGR issue was probably uncovered due to the long drive from Cornwall so I don't believe Bateman & Lynch were aware of it before selling to me. Honestly, this could have been a lot worse. Most dealers wouldn't have been half as cooperative, especially once the warranty company tried to not pay. Sam handled a rough situation very well and apart from the pain of having to juggle cars and insurance over Christmas, I haven't lost anything from it. 5 stars.
