Beautiful pub, shame about the staff and food. We visited taunton today and chose this pub due to it being a green king (we have one near us in yeovil that we love)... well the pub was pretty much empty. So we sat down and ordered some food. We wanted to order 3 chicken and bacon sandwiches and 1 lot of fries... they only had 1 chicken and bacon sandwich, so we ordered 2 burgers instead. They repeated the order infront of us and the husband paid. 30 minutes later a woman came over and said would you be ok with brown bread instead. My friend said ok.. over 15 minutes later they came over with 2 lots of fries. 1 burger and 1 sandwich. Even after reading the order out they forgot 1 burger. I said we didnt order the other lot of fries and were missing a burger. Oh sorry il have to go n put it in. By that point it had been over 40 minutes. The little ones were hungry and getting upset. Me and my friend split the sandwich. Chicken and bacon??? Where. It wad all colslaw i found no chicken or bacon. It was so dry we didnt eat it. The burger was so dry my husband didnt eat it. And the kids were then tired so left without eating. We complained but fell on deaf ears and endless apologies. Would have expected to be offered a refund for the terrible service and food. I have used many green kings and have never had a complaint. But this was rediculous. Ive never waited 40 minutes in a busy pub let alone a dead one! such a shame. Ruined a nce day

Only four items on the menu available and no mushy peas to go with our fish and chips. And although I had a decent sized piece of fish, it was very soggy and tasteless. Slightly chilly inside but the chap on the bar was very polite and apologetic.
