As a beginner violinist, it was with some trepidation that I visited James' workshop to upgrade on my student violin. I needn't have feared! James was welcoming, knowledgeable and incredibly patient as I tried multiple instruments and tried to find a good fit for me in terms of sound and quality. He has violins for a variety of budgets and styles and after a good couple of hours trying out many different violins, I eventually settled on one that clicked and it was so interesting to experience the different styles and tones of what to the untrained eye looks to be the same instrument! James has an amazing understanding of the instruments that he works with and he genuinely adds value to them in their set up with his skill and craftsmanship as a luthier. I would highly recommend a visit if you are in the market for an upgrade or even need adjustments to your existing instrument as it would be in safe hands. We are very fortunate to have him in the south west!
