I first used Quantock Funeral Services in September 2021 after losing my partner. Matt and his team were very considerate, professional and compassionate, with Matt even offering to pay for my partners funeral himself when I couldn't afford it. After a long wait to arrange the burial of ashes due to probate issues, I was finally able to collect his ashes and go ahead with his Private burial last month. However this time around dealing with Quantock Funeral Services was an entirely different experience, as sadly Matt was no longer with the company, so I had to deal with a Lady I didn't know. I was quite shocked at the uncompassionate way in which I was spoken too on the phone when arranging to collect the ashes. She said " Oh HIM, FINALLY, he's been waiting for you, where have you been" (as if I needed to feel any worse for not being able to lay him to rest sooner). I asked if I could reverse my car up to the back of the Wellington branch so I didn't have to carry the casket through the public car park (it would be upsetting enough without the general public watching) and initially she said "no" so I then said " well how can I get him to my car without walking through the car park" and she said " I can pop him in a bag" (to be honest at that stage I wouldn't of been shocked if she'd suggested a bag for life). On hearing my un enthusiastic response she then agreed I could drive up to the back of the branch. On collecting the casket I was hoping that would be the last dealings I would have with the company, but sadly not as the day after the burial the Lady contacted me again. Initially I thought she was just asking me how the burial went, but clearly that was not the purpose of the call as she started quizzing me, asking me who took the service, (which was odd as the company knew it was a private service) and when i couldn't remember the persons name due to it being a very upsetting day, she then started putting names in my mouth, adamant to find out who this person was, which was unnecessary and intrusive. It's a real shame because what was a lovely company to deal with, has now gone drastically downhill since Matt has left as there's just a total lack of empathy.
