A fair and good man? A story behind a 'housekeeping' interview/opportunity. I met Tom Hartley and was introduced to the role of house keeping at Swainstree and was asked to meet his daughter Priscilla the following day. Upon meeting Priscilla, I was amazed to receive acknowledgement of "Oh, I thought you was a foreigner". I was then briefly presented two storage/cleaning cupboards, in a chaotic dis-organised manner. I asked where the mop was for cleaning the cabin floors/toilets and to my dismay I was told by his daughter - 'they usually get down on their hands and knees'. I was then briefly shown 2 cabins and there was no demonstration or information on how they prefer the layout. I spent just over 5.5 hours cleaning both cabins, specifically going into crevasses to clean mould/mildew and did a deep thorough clean, to my ability. Inc, cobwebs, gutterings and drains. I utilized disposable cloths to clean the bathrooms, especially with the Covid-19 outbreak and pre-made cleaner that I found in the 'cleaning area'. Sufficient laundry was not provided and one cabin's toilet was broken, which I highlighted to them. Once finished, I called and was told to leave the property and they would be by later. I then receive two calls from Priscilla later that night just past 21:40, asking information to do with the property in an unfriendly manner - bearing in mind I am not an Employee. I converse with Tom Hartley, who expresses he is fair and good man and will like to meet me to discuss my efforts and pay for my time. As of writing it has now been 11 days since this conversation and despite contacting him three times - I am yet to receive a response. He did seem honest and fair upon interview but later to learn he is not. My outlook? I was used to simply clean two cabins and the position was removed the day I cleaned the cabins. A warning to anyone out there considering any future roles. I would check out two extremely negative glassdoor reviews & I was also informed the last employer was sacked after a mere two days. It is disappointing I have to leave this review but I feel it is a necessity others are made aware of how they may be treated.
