The couple that run this place are fantastic, we last visited in 2018 and they were just as welcoming as before. I would fully recommend Doward for the location and facilities but mostly the management Nearby activities: Climbing

This is a lovely site, quiet with very clean well serviced toilets. Electric hook up and a well stocked shop that is open till 5pm . They don't stock beer so take your own. Or walk through the woods on good tracks to ye old ferrie inn. It's about 25 minutes at a steady pace. We shall be returning.

Great little site. Owners very welcoming, pitches are a good size and level. Mile or so walk down the hill to the river and rope bridge and 10mins walk to King Arthur's cave. On-site shop sells great coffee! Would be 5 stars if the toilet block was heated. During the Easter weekend the doors were also constantly propped open so it was freezing in there.

Nearby activities: Lovely walk down to the river. Steep and muddy but fun. If you go down during the day, you can take the hand ferry across the river to the pub. This costs 2 per person and stops running at 6pm so keep an eye on the time! Walkability: Lots of walks from the campsite. Maps and guides provided.

Fabulous campsite, nice people. small and sheltered right in the forest. level pitches, very clean showers/toilets with gloriously hot water, good and plentiful washing up facilities, bricks for raising disposable BBQs off the grass, good play ground (even my 14yr old went on it!), table/bench hireable if needed. gravel paths all around to avoid the mud when raining. location is super quiet and walks straight from the the door through the forest. about 25 mins to the pub (but you'll taker longer as its a great walk with views). the hand-ferries may be closed if heavy rain so watch for that - makes it about 45 mins to/from Saracens. camp shop has a bunch of stuff in case you forget anything. The site has wifi though I couldn't connect at all in 5 days. no signal most of the time and only some near reception. But staff very helpful with weather check requests and I'm sure they'd help if you needed urgent access. I LOVED being off the signal so i couldn't work and my teenager couldn't "just check something", so that is a plus or minus :) both the Saracens Inn and the Ye Olde Ferrie are lovely. food at Saracens was especially good. burger at the Ferrie alright. local area has lots to see. Ross-on-wye has a lovely village centre, the Thai Riceberry is superb. I hope to go back in the sunny season, it will be even more awesome with good weather.
