Thank you for your quick response Shapers Team, however you have given me an email address to use for follow up that does not work, this email is also listed on your socials elsewhere, maybe something to look into.
I am sure you do good work, but the unsolicited leaflet drop is inappropriate, your marketing team should be much more on the pulse as to the message you are sending out, and how you go about doing this.
You have mentioned your members and team members love you, but you are leaflet droppingpotential new customers, so should take their views into consideration as well, rather than existing in an echo chamber of your own, outdated ideas.
_______
This company found it appropriate to put an envelope through my door today addressed to "The lady of the house" completely unsolicited, encouraging me to attend to lose the "Lockdown Weight Gain"
To start, by doing this we should acknowledge they do not know if they are inadvertently putting this through the door of:
- impressionable teens, young people, children
- those with eating disorders or body issues
- those struggling mentally with the constant stream of targets against women to look a certain way and not be happy in their own skin
- those who have mental health issues. specifically pertaining to weight and or body image
I understand a company has to promote their business, but this approach is completely out of sync with the times, and is not thought out at all.
The country is still in the midst of a pandemic (whether you chose to believe it or not is your own belief and not an argument I will get into), people have lost their jobs, their entire livelihoods, friends and family members have died, a company should not be using this type of tone to reach out to it's customer base like this.
Women only gyms have their place, but why not engage with your target market with a message of support, community and encouragement, rather than a strapline shaming lockdown weight gain and an image of a female mid section with a measuring tape around it.
Do better
