After months on end of GWR running late trains ot cancelling trains, they are trying to enforce a stupid policy that they refuse entry to train without a bike reservation - even when there is space there to go to next station only. This is extremely annoying for those of us who choose not to own car but commute to work and those of us who are freelance workers cannot always know one day in advance, which train we will take. If GWR wants such a policy, they need to ensure that users can book bike on same day of travel or at the manned station- yet this is not offered ..unless you are starting journey from Oxford....which many of us are not. If there is no space for unreserved bike, fair enough but preventing boarding when there is vacant bike space is simply nuts.

We had a couple of very late cancelled trains the other week from Worcester to Evesham. We had to take a taxi back instead. A refund of half the train fare and the full taxi fare were offered by GWR. This was a fast, quibble free process. Good customer service.

The absurdity of travelling by GWR with a family. If you have small children GWR makes it as uncomfortable and impracticable as possible to travel along their routes. Stripping out all seating facilities for families with buggies, and zealously enforcing the boundary with first class they have managed to make the 1hr 20m journey from Newport to Paddington as a single parent with two children, more uncomfortable than a 4 hour car journey. The advice provided on their website for those travelling with young children is preposterous. "if you have a small baby, you might want to take a carrier or sling. As, on most of our trains, you wont be able to have your pram/buggy next to you safely" What about the 4 year old forced to share the space outside the toilet with his two year old brother exhausted to the point of a meltdown. (in full view of 4 train staff enjoying their journey in the disabled bay of an empty first class.) I'm not looking for a free ride in first class. I'm not the chancer that your staff made me feel I am, I just want somewhere onboard your service which will support me with my children not aggregate and compound a situation.

Having lived in Winchester for years and only every experience minor delays or delays with legitimate reasons with SWT I can report that having moved to Newbury and using GWR they are an absolute disgrace. Trains with less carriages and standing room only. Unexplained hold ups. Break downs. Totally mismanagement. I experience a delay almost daily ( for the last 2 months) and still pay a fortune for a season ticket.

Rare to share positive feedback on a review but this was deserved. I was so blown away by the service from the gentleman serving at GWR ticket office. Normally service is impersonal, sometimes rude and unresponsive. A gentleman serving was kind, proactive, empathetic, thoughtful and polite. So amazed by this I had to share! Thank you
