I hired the function room for a wedding recently. The space itself is lovely and large, and benefits from its own bar and entrance. Despite some confusion surrounding the number of tables, Paula was very helpful and did a great job setting up the room. For a large event of more than 80 people, I'd really recommend the space. In terms of food, the food that Moonrakers provided was good and reasonable priced. We had a buffet and it was reasonably good. If I were to make a minor complaint, the way the food was set out was awkward and caused a long line, but that was partly due to the DJ making an announcement for everyone to go up at once rather than letting the ushers co-ordinate table by table. We were also promised proper plates and cutlery but were only given disposable on the day. We also had a hog roast by a vendor that Moonrakers uses. I was really disappointed by this. For 850, the amount of pork was nowhere near enough to feed the number we were told it could (portions were incredibly meagre - even as the groom and without the roll, I only got about two forkfuls of pork). Moreover, for some reason, they pre-butchered the meat so you couldn't recognise it at a hog (e.g. no head) - which is part of the appeal and theatre of the hog roast. Had we not had the buffet alongside, we'd have had very very hungry guests. If you hire Moonrakers, avoid the hog roast option - 100% not value for money. The pork itself tasted beautiful but there just wasn't enough to feed as many as advertised. The DJ was fairly good throughout in terms of musical choice and since he is included in the price, the cost is reasonable. However, he did have a tendency of making announcements that disrupted tings we had planned, like announcing the ice cream cart open when the bride and I were suppose to open it instead of cutting cake. Paula is great and Moonrakers itself is great. They accommodated our photobooth and let us have input into many aspects of the evening. However, if I could do it again, I'd let Moonrakers do all the food in-house rather than outsourcing for hog roast (unless Moonrakers worked with a better vendor).
