It seems that there are different types of "hardwood" used on the table top slats and when cleaning and oiling them, they are totally different colours and grains. Not an attractive look so I will have to strick the top back to bare wood and they only option will be to paint the table and chairs. Not impressed.
In future, we will stick to real teak garden furniture as we have other garden furniture in teak that was purchased 15 years ago and still looks superb after oiling.
