We come to the area every year for 4-6 weeks. We visit a pub regularly . We have been here for 3 weeks and perfectly enjoying our time. Today we decided to stop at The Swan Inn for a drink. When we arrived we were the only ones there. My husband got an ale and I got a gin. I didnt see the gin I liked so asked for something comparable- not flavoured. The Manager had no suggestion but threw the menu at me. I chose something that looking like a standard gin and asked the manager if that would be what I might like. He agreed and I got my drink. It was not my favourite gin but oh well, I tried a new one. The bartender was clearly learning and did his best. He held up very well once the crowd arrived. - the clincher! 21.5 for a gin and pint! More than double what we usually pay. Highway robbery! This, and the unwelcoming manager: we will not be returning. Walkability: Nice quiet, rural footpaths in either direction.
