I wouldn't recommend this home for anyone, their personal care is ridiculous my father would always smell of cigarettes and he also lost a lot of weight. the care takers are unprofessional especially the manager Kellyanne OConnor.

Mom has been at Bretby some sixteen months now, the difference in her view on life since being there is amazing. Mom is now happy, chatty ( sometimes about nothing in particular and too herself ) very mobile and laughs a lot, even the mischievous look is her eyes is back. Bretby has just had a fantastic overhaul inside, the hallway is light and bright with a telephone box painted on the wall as you walk to the loo, the office is now the Post Office , the quiet room has a huge tv where they gather to watch films. The carers are amazing, happy and friendly and truly care for the people they look after. Mom recently returned from hospital and because she loves to walk around, instead of using one of the Daily Mails volunteers to sit and talk to her, the Dr put mom on medication that would keep her bed bound, (not sure what Drs actually know about Alzheimer's/Dementia, but as WE know it means you forget ) giving mom this medication meant that when mom returned to Bretby a week later she had forgotten how to walk and feed herself (her meals had just been left on the bed table ) but with the perseverance, dedication and a little help from a 300 Revitive machine that we bought, she is now back on her feet , feeding herself and as normal as she is these days. My sister and I can not thank these carers enough for the friendship, care and dedication that they give to my mom and the others , five stars is not enough.

Not easy choosing a care home for your mom when it is necessary but Bretby House is perfect. Staff are amazing and really care about their residents. They invest so much money in updating the home to make it really homely. It is a home from home feeling and happy my mom is there. So many homes are sterile but this is family friendly. Thanks to Kelly and her crew - you all do an amazing job x

Its easy to judge a place by its setting, but please give it time. My Mum was here for 5 weeks following a hospital visit, and she was assessed here. The staff were so kind and caring, and took good care of the residents, they were always friendly, helpful and mindful of the residents needs. The food was homemade and always nicely presented and looked very tasty. I was there for some of the regular activities, my Mum especialy enjoyed the music ! My Mum was very well looked after, and was sad to say goodbye to everyone. I felt Mum was in safe hands when she was here, and thank all the staff for their kindness and help.
