Ive been using McGuiness Opticians since they opened and have always found them extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Theyve always given the best advice and spotted problems with my eyes very quickly - plus theyve never made me feel I really must purchase new frames. Recently only vision one eye had changed and it was quick and easy to order just one varifocal lens.

Really thorough eye examination by John, who gave a very fair assessment of the changes I needed to my prescription - no hint of upselling or telling you that you need a new prescription when you don't really, as you get at the bigger chains. 100% would recommend and I'm planning to return for subsequent tests and glasses.

As the lockdown began my glasses developed a problem when a piece of the arm began to show signs of wear after 6 months of use. I waited until the restrictions were eased and rang to make an appointment, I was given an appointment within 90 minutes and welcomed by the sole employee who opened up for me informing me that the remaining staff were still furloughed. I explained the problem and was immediately offered replacement frames of my choice at no extra cost, the service provided was in my opinion of the highest standard and deserves recognition. I have used this company on several occasions and always recognised the high standards they set, after today's service my wife and I will never ever use anyone else. Thanks again to the staff member who served me your customer service standards are exceptional.

I postponed something I needed to do to make sure I could make the appt, not wanting to let them down with only a days notice. But when I got there I was told I was early and would need to wait outside by a less than courteous young lady on reception. I did it anyway and finally was asked to come in and sanitise my hands, with less courtesy than I'd expect. I then waited a full 25 minutes without being told when anyone would see me or what the delay was. So, 25 after the appt time, despite me arriving early, I still had not started the eye test so because I had other things to do today I had to leave. Now, if I had been 25 minutes late I'm sure I would have been remonstrated with but I made a massive effort to be there on time driving through teeming rain, heavy traffic and wind all the way from south lakes to ensure I was there on time. Perhaps there's a good reason why there was a delay in me seeing the optician, but then surely someone could have warned me about that while I waited? I was going to rebook but as I did not even get a 'sorry' when I explained I had to go as time was running out for other things due to the delay, I decided perhaps I'd be better off at another optician.

Just been to collect my glasses and the shutters were 1/2 down. It was only 5.10pm and I was told they were shut. When I pointed out the Internet said they shut at 5.30pm they said they said no it's 5.10pm. Check the Internet and its 5.30pm. Wasted trip.
