Love the views from Wharton Park not the brightest day but still being able to see the cathedral is amazing

The first of the new season of brass band concerts. Houghton Brass Band played a wonderfully diverse program - something for everyone - they even took requests. They were on from 13:00 to 15:00 and were due a break half way through, but the sky was lowering and the light dimming with the threat of impending rain, the conducted took a straw poll of the audience and asked if it was ok to play through the break in case it started to rain and they would have to stop. There was unanimous agreement for this plan. Very soon after the threat of rain diminished and we expected them to stop shirt of 3 o'clock - not only did they not finish early they were still playing after the hour. There was a lovely rapport among the band members and some good jokes shared with the audience. All of us - audience and musicians left the park happy, smiling and either humming or whistling some of the tunes we had been treated to. Well done to all involved in organising such a wonderful opening concert for this season. We'll be back for more soon.
