Unusual piece of modern art set in the always beautiful and tranquil Herrington country park. One of five similar metal sculptures based at various areas of regeneration throughout North East England. The sculpture consists of a weathered steel 'walk-through' rib cage-like structure linked by weathered steel lines representing railways and paths. This version of the sculpture encompasses a bridge crossing over an inlet into a pond. The sculptures were developed through workshops with local schools and groups.

Designed by William Pym, it resembles a pair of lungs or a ribcage signifying the breathing of new life into a regenerated piece of land that was once a working coal mine. Viewed from the side it resembles a Cornish Pastie
