An awful experience from day one. My build was started by Neil Fairweather but the build quality was so poor that we asked for his partner Ian to take control of the build. It was obvious to me that Neil was taking little of no notice of the building plans or the kitchen plans and he described them as "a rough guide". Ian Fairweather took over the build and after removing a supporting block wall he failed to inform me that a steel support was required to support the upper floors. When we informed him that my sons bedroom floor had dropped and now had a 15mm gap between the flooring and the bottom of the skirting board he wasn't interested in making my house structurally safe and told me to use the money that I owed him to get another builder. I found a brilliant builder who worked closely with my Architect, Structural Engineer and Building Control officer to order and insert a steel support to make my house safe. Be warned that Cousins Builders work is of POOR QUALITY and DANGEROUS!! The review on this website from NEIL FAIRWEATHER should be ignored as he is a partner in Cousins Builders and the builder refered to in this review. It just shows you how desperate some people are for good reviews. FURTHER REPLY FROM G WEBB I have now read the review from Cousins and do not believe some of the comments made by them in relation to the build. I have now had a leak on the roof and when I texted Cousins (Ian Fairweather) he initially refused to come back and examine the roof which was only 9 months old. I did eventually get a response from Ian Fairweather where he explained what could have caused the roof to fail, even though nobody from Cousins had been out to examine the roof. He only made contact with me after I'd contacted Checked and Vetted and informed them that I intended to post a very negative review. I have informed Cousins on several occasions that they or their representatives could attend my address and inspect the roof but they have chosen not to return to my home. After reporting the roof leak to my Insurance company an Independent loss adjuster inspected the roof and rejected the claim as he said that the roof was judged to be of VERY POOR QUALITY. He identified that the lead flashing had not been cut into and attached to the blockwork as is normal practice, and had simply been laid flat against the rear wall of the house and been held in place by mortar (see photographs attached). Once the mortar cracked with the expansion and contraction of the lead over the previous 9 months the rain water poured into my new extension. The loss adjuster also identified that the roof had not been correctly measured out and as a result there was no 2" overhang into the new gutter and this resulted in rainwater being blown under the tiles. I have reported Cousins to the Federation of Master Builders and I'm awaiting their reply. I am currently in the process of taking legal action against Cousins as this is the only available option left open to me as Cousins have refused to engage with me at any stage of the complaint.
