found this place by chance a few months ago, going back again for lots of reasons... Food is excellent and portion size is more than good. The staff and Chef Arran are brilliant, great banter and always accommodating. Nothing was or is too much trouble. Everything is priced sensibly and all fresh. Such a shame. We always try and support local small business but this restaurant really needs to sort it's self out. Walked in at 1030 Saturday morning (it opens at 10) to find the place empty. Waiting staff was friendly so we decided to stay. Menu looked nice so ordered coffee whilst we looked at the menu. Waitress arrived to take our order and advise that they didn't have any bagels. Strange as quite a few dishes are served on bagels. Not a problem as we both wanted shaksah. Ah sorry we don't have that either was her reply. What do you have then? Oh we've got soda bread. Hum, ok don't worry we'll just have the coffees (1 flat white and a black coffee) . What arrived was clearly instant coffee! When I asked if they thought one of them was a flat white I was told that the coffee machine wasn't working. At which point we left. I really hope this was a one off and they get whatever problems they have sorted, but please don't try to fob customers off with instant coffee!!!!

Disappointing service and disappointing quality and availability of food. We try support local eateries and chose Station Road for a midday lunch on the 8th May, however I will not return to this restaurant because of their inability to honour a menu choice that was previously booked for a group of 6 guests. Roast beef was the choice for most with one roast pork for me and our order was served. Disappointingly, the beef and pork meats were cold on all servings, carrots were al dente almost to the point of not being cooked, two side servings of vegetables were insufficient to meet the number in our group and my request for crackling to accompany the roast pork seemed beyond the skills of the chef. He apparently hadnt anticipated that ordering a roast pork dinner could elicit a request for crackling. Undercooked crackling was eventually served but was too soft and was left uneaten. Our request for profiteroles was not met, apparently because there was no flour..(Waitrose was only 200 yards away and open at the time).. Given this was a pre ordered menu choice which gave ample opportunity for the choices to be met, it was not an enjoyable experience for the group.

The food was all amazing and the service was excellent. Particular highlights for us were the Katsu Burger which was incredible and the onion rings, which were the best weve had. The chef came out before we ordered to ask if we had any questions about the menu, which was a very nice touch. You can tell everyone here is very passionate about what they do - the owner stopped by the table at the end of the meal to introduce himself and explain where all the produce was sourced locally. Im summary; great food, great atmosphere, great people. Will definitely go back.
