Newstone House Care Home

In our association with Newstone House, we are just at the first stage of Customer Care & Service, and yet we have been struck, already, by the warm, calm and professional welcome we have received from everyone. Everything has been very efficiently managed, with exceptional levels of customer service from both Maria and Beverly. We are also particularly impressed by the creative ways in which life in the home is clearly enhanced and residents lives are so wonderfully enriched.

Worked there for about a month was all okay in the beginning but went down hill. Very few people were amazing to chat to but majority of them were rude, blunt and so negative. Housekeeper supervisor said work was more important then our lives and very Contradictive with what she said, and was hardly supportive.

My mother was recently a resident at Newstone House for four weeks, seeking respite care while my wife and I were on holiday. At the time, Colton Care provided a special offer whereby my mother could reside there for four weeks for the price of three. Throughout her stay at Newstone House my mother was deeply impressed by the kindness, consideration and professionalism of the staff. Under Christine's excellent leadership and management, the staff are observant, attentive and polite. Attention to detail is evident and no request seemed too difficult to meet. Moreover, my mother arrived there requiring twice-weekly dressings for a prior cut on her leg and these were administered routinely and effectively by the on-site Daycare Nurse using the dressings provided by my mother's local GP Practice. The private room allocated was large, clean, bright and functional. The en-suite bathroom was huge, very well equipped and included a wet-room; several safety features were evident to minimise the possibility of accidents. The single-width bed, with its rather thin mattress, was not very comfortable and often disturbed her quality of rest. My mother really enjoyed the excellent variety and quality of food served in the pleasant surroundings of the communal dining room, although meals can be taken in the private rooms if desired. A choice of wine is also served - and much appreciated!! A fan of opera and classical music, my mother also took advantage of the Cinema facility to watch several such DVDs. Good quality ground coffee is always available on tap in the lounges, although the staff are always on hand to provide other beverages on request. Several outings were offered during my mother's stay, although she only opted for a nearby theatre show for a very small additional charge. Communications with Colston Care prior to residency, and with Newstone House during occupation were outstanding. Maria, who coordinated my mother's initial request to stay, kept me well informed of the options (full time residents naturally get priority) as my holiday approached. During residency, the receptionists were very quick to answer enquiries and all issues were handled professionally, in a timely manner and without fuss. My mother has read my review and endorses my observations. The facilities at Newstone House are excellent and the many staff members are exceptional in their quality of care and friendliness. I would not hesitate to recommend respite care there to others and, if the need for full-time care for my mother is ever required, I do not doubt that she would be happy to stay there more permanently. I offer my warmest appreciation to all of those concerned.
