Ampersand House

Our Mother arrived at Ampersand House in December 2022, upon arrival both my Sister and myself were warmly greeted by the Deputy Manageress. Within a short period of time, Mum had settled down well, and integrating easily with the other residents, all members of Staff from Management to the Carers, Kitchen staff all go the extra mile to ensure that our Mother and every resident are well cared for, this is reflected in the cleanliness of the Care Centre, the appearance of the residents, always look well looked after, etc.., the residents are treated with dignity and respect, the staff also engage with the residents during social events such as dancing, arts & crafts etc.., the Management (Claire & Sarah) are absolutely delightful!, they always make my Sister and myself feel so welcome as with all the other members of staff, always asking if we would like refreshments etc, this Care Centre offers first class care to the residents, and genuine love and care for those in their care, Ampersand House is an exceptional Care Centre, dedicated to providing specialist care to our loved ones, our Mother since arriving at Ampersand House, has and continues to thrive in this Care Centre, the environment is a positive one, family are always warmly welcomed. If you are looking for a Care Centre, why not give Ampersand House a try??, it is an home from home, it is like a big happy family!! .. Exceptionally lovely caring and friendly staff. Don't be put off by the look of the building, it may not be a purpose built facility but your relative will receive the utmost care. They looked after my mum admirably and continued to advise me after she passed.

This home has been wonderful to my dad and my family the staff are lovely and go above and beyond for their residents. My dad has dementia and he loves the home he feels safe and comfortable there and wants for nothing.

I feel as a home we must respond regarding to the poor reviews below. The date the reviews were written are misleading , as this resident passed away 8yrs ago plus, not 6 months ago as per the last review suggests. The CQC investigated this and we was found not to be at fault, it was an accident and that it was unavoidable under the circumstances of the fall, We as a home have always prided ourselves on the care we give. The family did put in a letter of concern and the manager at the time responded as such (no longer with the company as retired). Our Manager did convey the homes deepest sympathy and that if this lady had stayed in hospital the out come could of been very different and that they should take that up with the hospital. We cannot unfortunately, prevent any one from Falling 24/ 7 as we do not offer 1-1 care but we do our utmost to ensure all of our residents safety and have all the relevant outside agencies involved to help us maximise there safety. Since this ladies passing we have had a new manager and more care staff and we are a completely different home than we was in 2002. We feel that anyone reading these reviews will have concerns regarding us as a home as we all would but they are misleading as they happened a long time ago and not recently as their review dates state. Please also look on the Ampersand House web site and on carehomes.com for reviews also . If anyone has concerns we would really like you to phone and speak to the homes manager.
