We rang on 8 August as we had a wasp nest in the bush in our garden and our neighbours sit in their garden with a young baby a few yards away, just the other side of the fence. The response was the same day - Keith, the company owner, sprayed the nest with insecticide and I paid him 60 in cash. I assumed that was that. However, the wasps did not dissipate and two days later on 10 August I called again to report the fact that they were still there. Keith then came back and treated the area again. However, this still did not work and the wasps were still there a couple of days later, so my wife called again on 13 August. He treated the area once again. My wife found him irritable at having to come back - though I can understand his frustration to some extent, it wasnt our fault that he didnt get rid of the nest as requested! My wife asked whether or not the wasps could have set up another nest or if there was a second nest already there and he said categorically that wasps are territorial so that would not be the case. Keith was adamant that we should leave it for a few days. We did just that, as we did not want to inconvenience him unnecessarily. However, it was clear that the wasp nest was still there and so I rang again on 24 August. There was no answer and the phone ring was a single beep, suggesting that Keith was out of the country. Although I was reluctant to interrupt him on holiday, I was then stung by one of the wasps and thought that I needed to do so. Therefore, I called him again on Wednesday 26 August but again there was no reply. I tried again today, 30 August, but no reply. Our neighbours are constantly out in their garden with their baby which is a real concern, so I texted to see if I could get a response that way. I did get a reply but I was very disappointed to be told that if I want him to return, there would be a charge for doing so. The one star rating is for two reasons: firstly, this was a simple task and finish. I paid 60 in order to get rid of a wasp nest in the garden. That was not done. Secondly, we were told to leave the nest for a few days to see whether or not the wasps dissipated. We were told initially that there was no way that there would be a second nest in the area. Then we were told that that probably was. We were also told that the wasps would be disorientated and so would return to the site of the nest for a while and we had to leave it long enough for them to realise that it was no longer there and therefore to leave of their own accord. We did that and we were then told that there will be a charge after such a long lapse since my last visit. I very rarely complain about any services that we receive but this has really upset me. It would seem to be a very straightforward task for a professional. Whether the failure to remove the nest was down to ineptitude or misfortune I am not sure but the lack of professional courtesy in refusing to return to the site to complete the original job means that I would absolutely not recommend Hunt Catch Kill to anyone. We are now forced to contact another, larger company in order to ensure that the garden is safe for us and our neighbours and we are three weeks beyond the original point that we expected it to have been addressed.
