My GP Surgery at Rowan Road closed down. I submitted a registration form over 3 months ago to the Streatham Common Practice. I went into the surgery to book an appointment firstly I was told this could not be done, I should go onto the Web site to book the appointment, I thought let me check my registration I was told your not registered your not on the system, check again on Friday. CHECK BACK ON FRIDAY, what a joke, not a good start, I'm disgusted.

The services have gone from bad to worse, to the extent that this has become unsafe for patients. Admin staff are empowered to make clinical decisions as "trained navigators" which means effectively blocking patients from securing any GP or nurse appointments. They do not give out appointments any more, you have to call on the day at 8am and stay on the phone for over an hour and then give up, which is not practical. With closure of 2 great Surgeries in the area, this Surgery (which was bad to begin with) have taken over more patients than they can cope with, making healthcare a hazard. I have submitted my concerns to the CQC, who, I feel has little idea of the unsafe nature of this GP Practice. It is also interesting to see how much time and money they are investing to respond to each and every Google review. I am yet to come across a NHS Service that siphons its care and time responding to Google reviews (which are not formal complaints) rather than investing in actual patient care! As they say, actions speaks more than words. It will also be interesting to understand what NHS Media policy is being followed by this Practice (and legal procedures) where you can openly discuss and rebuke patients for submitting a negative review on a social media platform ?! Is it possible that the patient is always wrong? Addendum (after the owner responded to the review)- If I understand correctly, someone is being paid "out of hours" to respond to Google reviews. As we all know these expenses are far more than expenses incurred within NHS working hours. This does prove that these funds are better spent on patient services rather than on social media. This Practice is the only NHS Service, I have come across who invests time and money answering Google reviews (there might be others but, I am not aware). If you feel things are unlikely to change even if concerns are raised, best to report this to CQC (Care Quality Commission) or NHS England.

On 2 seperate occasions it hasn't been clear that my appointments are not in person, but instead over the phone. The first time I was on my way to the clinic and recieved my call consultation by surprise on my mobile. Most recently when I arrived I was told my appointment was on the phone and was told that the Dr had already left VMs which wasn't the case. When I enquired about this I was told that the VMs where left on my landline - which only the day before I told a receptionist that I do not have a landline and they took down my mobile number. The neglect and lack of clarity by the gatekeepers really needs to be looked into. People need to be seen face to face not over the phone and its needs to be clear that the appointment is on the phone. Phone appointments never used to occur. When I finally got through on the phone again I was told that the Doctor would call on my mobile and I even asked if it was a guarantee which the reply was "yeah he should do". Ofcourse the call never occured. Been coming to the clinic since I was a child- its never been this bad.
