I recently visited with my friend to see her grandma and we were happy with everything that was going on. I was touched by the cleanliness of the home and the way the staff were engaging with the residents. It was a happy environment

I'm actually shocked and appalled that Limetree is still open! If I could give a zero star rating I would. When I first visited as a place for my dad to reside, myself and siblings were sure we had made the best choice for him. The staff appeared genuinely caring and knowledgeable; a few actually were. The facilities looked good and the building was clean and welcoming. Within months, things began to change. Although externally Limetree still looked appealing, inside was another story. Dad's room and those of other residents were not cleaned regularly and the smell of urine lingered in the air. Our footwear often stuck to the floor, where fruit juice or some other substance was spilt and not mopped up. Fruit flies from rotting food decorated the walls. Hygiene and safety of residents did not seem to be a priority either. I witnessed a few manage to get through the security doors and wander into the courtyard. Dad initially evaded poor treatment as he had a regular stream of visitors. We soon noticed attitudes began changing the more complaints the home got. The final straw for me came not long after the home reopened for family visits; it had closed for a few weeks following a Norovirus outbreak. I went to collect my dad one Christmas, only to find him sitting on a chair near the entrance of his room with a large piece of gauze covering the back of his hand, which had swollen to twice its usual size. On removing the gauze, I found a burn, bigger than the size of a fifty pence piece. ad couldn't speak for days from the pain he was in. The burn had apparently happened the night previous and no one claimed to know how. The staff did not call me, an ambulance, or administer care, other than being advised to give Dad pain killers. After blasting the staff and the manager, Oxana, my partner, son and I took Dad to King's College Hospital, where he stayed for 3 months. His burn was confirmed as hot water scalding, and his drooping wrist and ankle which had occurred during Norovirus, was diagnosed as Motor Neurone disease; Limetree had diagnosed arthritis. We ended up opening a safe guarding case and lodging a formal complaint to the Quality Care Commission against the home. I refused my dad returning to Limetree and another facility was found for him. People please, avoid Limetree like the plague!"Not only was my dad's life cut short, but I subsequently found out that four families I knew of had loved ones pass way within months of admittance owing to gross neglect. Limetree should not be allowed to use Care, or Home in its description.
