Nature Reserve: Stanton Park - An inspiring and largely unspoiled example of a country park, Stanton's layout is essentially unchanged from the early 19th century, boasting a unique and wonderful combination of historical features and natural beauty. The Park is managed by the Councils Ranger Team with the help of Volunteer Rangers and other interested groups. This 74-hectare (185-acre) park evolved from a medieval estate into a nineteenth century landscaped parkland with sweeping pastures, large lake and ancient woodland. In 2003 a 35ha (85 acre) Local Nature Reserve (INR) was designated within the park, recognizing value wildlife in its wide variety of habitats, which include wetland, streams, woodland and grazed meadows. As well as providing foorand shelter to many birds of prey, amphibians, reptiles and bats. the is home to an extraordinar) species recorded, including Red Data Book species
