Just outside the Cotswolds, Shakespeare's birthplace is most visited because of the Bard, but the town centre and the pretty Riverside area next to he Avon is worth spending a day and worthy of a visit in their own right. Take some time to observe the very interesting manual operation of the locks that provide access to the marina along the Avon. One suggestion: many small and popular restaurants are full so plan a visit to ensure an early lunch where there is the chance of getting into more places.

We visited this place from London. Drove from London was about 2&1/2 hours of drive. Its a lovely town to explore with very nice outdoor areas to just sit relax and soak in the sun. We were travelling with a toddler so this was a plus as we had a little picnic and he enjoyed playing ball. Lots of restaurants were doing takeaway and you could just sit and eat outside. Lovely day out location Download the offline map and check places you would like to visit.... we could easily walk with our toddler and its all buggy/pram friendly. There is a big car park in the town center where you can park and then literally just walk around.

You are doing a great job of providing a beautiful place for people of all nations to visit, good disabled parking, clean streets, clean toilets, plenty of bins. Swindon could learn a lot from your examples. 5 *
