Shocking treatment of paying guests - disturbed by the owners family members in the night and refused compensation dreadful. The owner had put one of his family members and lady friend in the guest room next to mine with paper-thin walls - they entered loudly after 1130pm and then started playing loud thumping music and having extremely loud conversations. This went on for quite a while so eventually I had to get dressed and go and knock on their door and politely ask them to turn the music down. Other guests complained too, more severely than I - which ended up in a very heated argument between them and the family member. This went on for about 20 minutes in the middle of the night. The owner himself did not appear. I had hardly any sleep due to being woken from my sleep so dramatically and loudly and the consequent upset caused by an unpleasant and disturbing situation, where the family member did not immediately oblige and respect our need for sleep and a restful night by apologising and turning the music down disgraceful to their paying guests! When I reported the disturbance to the owner the next day via email he said they were his family, said the disturbance was not acceptable at all, but said it only went on for 5 minutes (it was much longer! - how did he know? he wasnt there!) and so I did not deserve to be refunded any of the money I had paid in advance for that nights stay!!! I sent a few emails and a shocked friend of mine who has run a similar business rang the owner to reason with him but to no effect. Shocking! Dont say I didnt warn you!! Other insights: No regularly-manned reception long waits for assistance. Just after my arrival, whilst I was waiting for anyone to come to reception, a builder just two feet from me started banging deafeningly with a hammer, when I had nowhere else to go and had to wait. When the hostess arrived she did not stop him from banging so that we could have a conversation. Building on main road of busy traffic and a way out of the town centre. Bed very uncomfortable. Breakfast room dcor etc tired and dated.
