(Translated by Google) The town, Ston on the Wold, is known for the wool and sheep trade that took place in the central square from 1107 to 1980. Built on a hilly part 800m. It is rich in prestigious shops, boutiques, galleries, antiques. Very close to the market is the oldest inn in England. It dates from 987 AD Also known in this city is the famous tree-planted door. Locals say that its shape was a reference to the doors described for the famous hobbit houses in the Lord of the Rings book. It is located behind the historic church of St. Edward. It looks like a portal to another realm. On either side of it are large Yew trees. It reminds a bit of a fairy tale. (Original) , Ston on the Wold, 1107 1980. 800. , , , . . 987. . , , . . . . Yew. .
