Not Fit For Purpose
Facts: A Customer View Point. Four Months and Counting
6th August 2021
Recommended By Carters to place my order for a Beco Integrated Fridge Freezer.
!0th August.
Carters took 579.99 from my bank account for the Beco
20th August
Beco Integrated Fridge Freezer fitted into my kitchen surround but would not fit correctly. Fitters advised they would advise Carters on leaving the property to book another date/time to return.
23rd August
Having not received return date from Carters I rang Carters to be advised that they were not aware a recall visit was required, would check with fitters. Called me back later that day to advise Fitters had forgotten.
13th September
Fitters returned to complete fitting of Beco integrated unit.
Note: Days later found the new Beco was not working correctly and walls inside fridge compartment was breaking away. I advised Carters who arranged for Beco engineers (Optimum) to visit and inspect the Beco.
23rd September
Beco engineers (Optimum) inspected and condemned the Beco Integrated Fridge Freezer saying it was not Fit for Purpose issuing a Condemned Notice No 101811109 to give to Carters to replace Beco
24th September
Called in on Carters to advise Beco (Optimum) engineers recommendation That Beco was not Fit for Purpose. Carter advised, not our fault it was Becos. I pointed out that Carters obviously did not carry out final inspection before installing in customers home. Carters advised they would replace the Beco with a similar Hot Point model when they became available in four weeks time, I agreed.
29th October
Received no contact from Carters, called in shop to enquire what was happening. Salesman new nothing about this matter until I pointed out to him the note pinned up in front of his nose. Oh he replied and checking his computer loudly announced that Becos were back in stock. I advised him I was waiting for a Hot Point. I was then subjected to a loud rant from the salesman, more to impress others in the shop than resolve my situation. Did I not realise these are difficult times he ranted on My view to this unfriendly and aggressive attitude was one of surprise. A few days later I posted a review on Carters website of my dissatisfaction.
November
I received a call on my home landline from the ranting salesman, advising that a Hotpoint machine had been located but Carters would no longer supply it to me?, How childish is that? Carters said they would collect the damaged Beco and refund my monies 579.99. I advised Carters they were obligated after taking my money, fitting a Not fit for Purpose Beco, to supply asap a Hotpoint. They refused.
Bottom Line
I have placed an order with another supplier for an integrated Hotpoint Fridge Freezer and when fitted I will advise Carters to collect the Not fit for Purpose Beco. I would expect all monies paid to Carters 579.99 to be refunded/returned into my Credit Card account asap.
Four months on I leave it to you to form a view of the quality and goodwill of service provide by Carters in Storrington.
