We decided to go to Halcyon Days for an ice cream to celebrate our children's first full week at primary school. On entering, we were rather rudely told to go round into the outside area. No problem however. We sat outside. Once seated, I wasn't sure what ice cream to go so popped my head back in to look at the flavours to be abruptly told by the lady behind the counter she would be out to talk us through things. When she came out to take her order, one soon got the distinct impression we weren't welcome there - she was quite unfriendly to our children, especially when one asked for bubblegum ice cream, shemade paying separately seem like a major issue, and wasn't that happy that we had to make amendments to our order because.... well, children can't make up their minds. I offered to pay cash which again I got the feeling was the end of the world. I just wanted to get out as soon as possible.
Yes, we had children with us, but apart from being excited to have an ice cream, they were well behaved. All customers have the right to be treated with respect and I am frankly appalled.
This is a shame because the menu looks nice. But I can't envision myself ever coming back.
