Capital Fireplaces (Showroom By Appointment Only)

I've had a Woodrow eco 5 installed. It has a very loud whistle whenever the vent is open so I am having to use it with the door slightly open and the vent closed. I contacted Capital for advise butvthey didn't reply.

Fire whistled a lot on installation which my installer was able to sort (my installer was really good tbf - lovely little local company in Tring). Then eight months in the ash pan warped so badly I couldn't get it back in the stove. Installer contacted Capital and was told they wouldn't replace it because it was a 'consumerbale' part (see pics).

I didn't want to believe the stereotype based reviews about Chinese manufacturing. But four years after purchasing a fire insert from official sales outlet Blue Mantel in London, we had a severe malfunction. Warranty support was refused so we decided to replace it with a Nu Flame unit, which have a much better reputation for their burners and are made in the UK. When purchasing, we were categorically told that Capital is a British fireplace company. It's clear that they are nothing but a British label stuck on a Chinese appliance. Like an modern MG car! @Chris Dales - give it a couple years. You'll soon understand why the hostility towards this brand is growing!

In an age where brands are moving away from untrustworthy Chinese products, it is a great shame to learn that my Capital fireplace was a UK brand in name only. The product was a cheap Chinese job. As soon as I learnt this, I cancelled my order and purchased a Stovax product, which incidentally came with a 5 year warranty. Chinese manufacturing and fire are a bad combination - No amount of savings is worth the safety of my home! UPDATE following Phil's response below: Thank you for a rather professional and measured response. While I respect your need to defend your brand and its corporate decision making, I'm afraid there's very little positive to be taken away from any company that has focussed on manufacturing in the Chinese state. Politics aside, Capital has "proudly" prioritized Chinese manufacturing jobs over local production and yet boast of a similar pricing to UK manufactured products. Sorry to say but decisions like these, driven by the blind need for increased margin that I take issue with, and it's important that UK consumers know the difference in belief systems behind the brands they are buying. I felt misled that I was buying a British fireplace but in reality, I was buying something manufactured in a hostile nation, with a British logo slapped on it.
