Princess May School, April 2023. I am posting publicly but will not name anyone else in this review. I am moving home and thought this would be a fun afternoon for house clearance (I was so wrong). On the plus: this is a good place for buyers, mainly because there are so many sellers cramped into very small plots each paying 16 per car. There are a limited number of tables to rent at 6 each, alas unavailable to pre-book. There's great camaraderie amongst the sellers, in fact they were all very lovely, although the five in my immediate locality were very unhappy about the way what they consistently described as 'a friendly community event' had been taken over by a business. Another plus is that there's a cafe on-site selling tea/coffee, bacon butties etc. all good and well appreciated. Customers are good humoured, they like a haggle, and all those I encountered were local. Some had an association with the school, bringing lovely little kids with pocket money (very skilled negotiators!) which was really nice. On the negative: the management have absolutely no respect for the sellers. I'd go as far as to say the management team (I think they are a family), actually despise the sellers and customers in equal measure. On their playground patrols, in hushed tone they sneer and laugh at "tat" and "African ballgowns" believing I could not hear or wouldn't mind, myself not being an African. Well, I do mind. I don't have a car, so asked my dear 76yr old friend to drive me over. Admittedly, we struggled to access Princess May School due to new CCZ etc not being on his old A_Z. We were about half an hour late, for which we profusely apologised via text and in person. I got on with organising out micro pitch and left him in the car talking to the attendant. It was only after we had left, the female manager, screaming at other stall holders to "pack up and get out by two" that he admitted he had been embarrassed by the male parking attendant, who shouted at him. Words to the effect of 'you're late, I should turn you back, if you come late next time I won't let you in'. This, to an elderly Cambridge Professor who had done his best to help me with my house clearance. Never fear, @London Car Boot - we certainly will not be back. I'd suggest no one else visits either.
