Stayed here for one night as a treat away for our 5 year old granddaughter as it wasn't far from Crealy theme Park, wasn't impressed at all. Looked lovely from outside, gardens and fountain but the inside was a different story. First thing i noticed when we walked in was a musty smell.. we booked a family room with en-suite as my husband has a bowel cancer and needs to use the loo very frequently, so didn't want to share a bathroom. To be fair the room was a fair size with a double bed and a single bed which were quite comfortable, but i can honestly say i had the worst nights sleep ever. I appreciate its a Victorian listed building with no double glazing, but when i saw packs of ear plugs in the bathroom i realised there might be a problem.. The room was boiling and despite ringing ahead the day before to request a fan, and being told one would be put in the room there wasnt.. it was only after we came in later i realised and though it might be too late to go and knock the owner up. The noise from the traffic outside was unbearable , the earplugs hurt my ears so i had to take them out.. 11.30pm at the night the people in the room next door decided to have a bath which i could hear as if i was sleeping in the bathroom..The decor in the room was very tired , wallpaper hanging off in the bathroom and although generous toiletries, lots of black mould around the bath. .. breakfast one glass of orange juice at each place instead of a choice of jugs , my granddaughter only likes apple juice but none was available.. I then asked for a glass of squash to be told i dont keep squash.. full English? i would say half English ..no baked beans, tomatoes or mushrooms, who serves a full English without those? it was basically sausage bacon, eggs and toast.. I think the owner runs the breakfast as suits her not to what guests might want.We put a smile on at breakfast as the female owner i found to be more intimidating than friendly and Looking at the other reviews ( which i wish i'd done before booking) it seems as i suspected that she is very defensive and has not apologised in one single review.. and has been quite rude.. I would not recommend anyone to say here
