completely neglected my grandad who has dementia. Left him for the week, didnt clean him or change him. Didnt properly feed him and when he went to the toilet and he forgot ( as he has dementia) he got shouted at by the nurse and was very rude to him. Completely disgusting and this is not how u treat someone with dementia. Not left with a drink during the week! Do not recommend at all.

My father is a resident at Plane Tree Court. He has received the best of care here. He has vascular dementia and all the staff including his carers, the management, and all the support staff are like a big family. There is a fantastic homely atmosphere, filled with kindness.

John and the team took really good care of my mum for her end of life care, very respectful of her dignity and wishes and kept her smiling right up to her final weeks. For the funeral, we departed from the home and the staff walked us out and lined the street to say goodbye..such a lovely gesture and very moving. Thanks to all Anne

When it was decided by my Mum and the doctors that going home wasnt a viable option due to her requirements of twenty-four-hour care, the thought of a nursing home filled me with dread. My only experiences of nursing homes had been the media representation which filled me with dread. Having looked around a couple of other homes, some being high class hotel style residences; but nothing felt like the right fit. My daughters and I were on our way to another care home when we received the call from John at Plane Tree having received the information about my mum and inviting us for a visit to have a look around. He was very empathetic and understanding of the difficulty of the situation on the phone and once we arrived, he greeted us warmly and we felt immediately at ease. He was upfront and honest about the running of the home, what to expect and any changes they were in the process of which could affect her stay. Every member of staff we encountered was friendly, had a big smile on their face and made us feel welcome. John advised that he had an opening of a room until the Tuesday (this visit was on the Thursday), and I asked if my brother could come and have a look around before deciding and John was happy to oblige. When I left Plane Tree, I called my brother and told him I had found the perfect place for our mum, that I had a good feeling about it and the people make it feel homely and inviting. After the second visit we agreed that this was the best option for her, we got to choose the room we liked the most and rearrange it so she could have some furniture from home and her bed positioned to watch the birds from her window. My mum suffers from a stage four bed sore and both John and Litty have been doing everything they can to ensure she is comfortable and to try and heal it along with other members of staff who oversee her care. It is a very difficult wound to heal due to her age and poor appetite, they have been in constant contact with the tissue viability team to get advice, share photographs and speak with the doctors who visited her in the home. John had suggested using a pain patch alongside the prescribed antibiotics which has been helping her when she is in pain or discomfort. As she struggles with mealtimes and can feel quite overwhelmed both the chefs and care staff have reduced her portion size to compensate; she finds this more manageable and is less likely to refuse the food provided. Being able to visit her throughout the day into the evening at any time has been a blessing for our family and my mums friends. Due to other commitments, we were worried that some homes had strict hours of visiting which we would not be able to manage this has never been an issue at Plane Tree, and we are always offered refreshments at any time or meals if we are around during dinner times. My Mum is always very grateful for the care which is given and is always sharing kind words about the care she receives when we visit her. Paria has helped me to organise the delivery of a daily newspaper and appointments with the hairdresser which help her to feel more at home and give her things to look forwards to within her daily routine. Joan and Lynn have always been very helpful when I have asked any questions, nothing is ever too much trouble. They have helped to put my mind at ease several times when we are adapting to this new lifestyle for my Mum. I would not hesitate to recommend Plane Tree Court to anybody who is looking to find a nursing or care home for a loved one, they have shown so much love and care to my Mum as she has settled into her new home, and we are so grateful for everything the staff continue to do for her.
