I can only speak from personal experience. I found this service extremely helpful. It didn't work for me, when I first went to Acorn in 2001, but that wasn't anything to do with them. I just wasn't ready to accept I had a life threatening disease that's called addiction, at that time. The critics of this service now, probably wasn't ready either. Like most addicts they're no doubt, looking to blame someone else for their own failure.

My experience with Acorn was disgraceful. They are a bunch of bully so called therapists who while I was there 2 of them had inappropriate relationships with clients. Also the so called trauma therapy sitting a person in the middle while their peers tell them unkind so called truths is nothing more than playground nonsense and not at all therapeutic or caring. The whole establishment is run on people early in recovery on minimum wage exploiting them while the bosses use local government funding to give themselves a nice little wage, the male therapists are nothing more than egomaniacs. No clue at all about trauma. Do not go if you value your sanity. Shaming shameful place. Should not be funded to stay open.
