+ I dont even know what to write because the help has been life changing. Ive never experienced the level of acceptance that I have felt here. In the short time I was there I started to learn ways to express myself, and its an environment that encourages this. The space held in group time is invaluable for learning that its okay to open up, to share, to get it wrong, and to be less and less afraid of saying what you need/want to say. I attended for disordered eating and got way more out of it then I had imagined-looking at all areas. I wouldnt hesitate to recommend this place to anyone who is struggling with any kind of addiction and/or disordered eating. - My only recommendation would be for them to be more accommodating for people with disabilities or physical health conditions. I felt there were not enough allowances made for me with my health condition/disability, which unfortunately resulted in me having to leave. I understand that addiction issues can cause people to not commit to certain hours or affect attendance. But for me in my situation I was unable to attend more then I did. This generally didnt seem to be accepted. It was initially but then I was told I would need to attend the full day. Its a shame as I was getting so much from it, just in the 1 or 2 mornings I was there. I got so much from group. It ended up being dangerous for my physical health because I was pushing myself out of my limits and not listening to my body, just to keep up and attend. I think this was also seen by some of the counsellors as me making improvements but sadly thats not the case. Its a misunderstood condition and I think it can confuse people when someone is an ambulatory wheelchair user. I would recommend either training staff in dealing with physical limits as well as possible mental health challenges. And to listen more to the client when they are sharing what their limits are with regards to physical attendance. This would then make it more accessible to people with certain disabilities.
