From my dad who died from.... heart, no liver, might be tropical disease, STD, kidney, infection, alcoholism (my dad didnt drink) or my personal favourite a type of Lupus which is found in black men under 30. My dad was white and 78. Where he lost half his body and the staff didn't notice.
Or the the time my other half was in intensive care completely paralysed with GBD. Her poo bag had not been changed and overflowed to cover over half the floor of her room. That would have taken hours so close monitoring happens in intensive care. Or the time she was placed in a hoist chair for excercise for 30 minutes. Still there 7 hours later in absolute agony and tears. Intensive care at it finest once again.
Personally given wrong treatment plan for my diabetes, should have been reviewed constantly in the first 6 months. Turns out i was taking insulin completely wrong for four years. Dislocated ankke phoned for an Ambulance (pre covid) to be told it was not an emergency and it would be 5-6 hour wait. Luckly mother in law drove my in to A & E where they were brilliant. Pain relief, x-ray and set within minutes as had restricted blood flow to the foot. If i had waited for the ambulance would have been talking amputation.
I could go on and on and on. I genuinely can not remember an interaction where they have not f@#ed up something

The staff in Day Surgery recovery (especially a lovely blonde lady who usually works in main surgery whose name I forgot - I'm so sorry!) did their utmost to make me comfortable until the afternoon surgical team could add more local anaesthetic to the lower left, which was utter agony despite copious Fentanyl and morphine.
AMAZING staff, great day surgery unit staff and team, very smooth delivery of service and excellent aftercare. Also plenty of parking which is rare for a hospital on a busy weekday!
This is a good Trust. I also have had nothing but excellent service at New QEII in Welwyn.
Unfortunately have now moved to Watford and joined West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust who have a LOT to learn from this excellent ENHT with regards to high quality patient primary care delivery...
