Nice high street, completely out of keeping with the Stevenage I knew and despised. Stepping out of the station into the soulless concrete new town full of angry looking people in tracksuits shuffling round the vegetation and history free shopping arcade. But crossing the bridge to the old town was like going through a wormhole in a sci-fi novel - each step forward was a step away from post-war architectural crimes to Victorian and earlier buildings that felt genuine. After a pleasant couple of hours unfortunately I then had to head back over to the dishonest - literally so as I was going to watch the local team managed by a convicted fraudster
