        A homely, friendly pub. Good beer. We were only there for a drink after a walk, so didn't try the food available, but we'll be back to check it out.

        Had the most delicious steak dinner on Saturday night! Felt a little bit bad as we had the last ones, but it was so tasty!

        The star of the show is Bircher Best. What a fabulous pint, brewed on site. A creamy smooth amber ale that went down perfectly after walking the moors in the snow. We were first to be served at the carvery today. I had the beef, very tender and a nice flavour. The veg were perfectly cooked with a little bite to them, not a soggy mess you often see in a carvery. Nice rich gravy. There was disappointment in the pork my partner had, she eat it without complaint but I sampled a piece and it was very dry. I would have liked a good horseradish instead of the creamy goo that was on offer. Additional added Sunday evening. I forgot to add that the Bakewell tart we had for desert was fantastic too. Pleased that the pub replied to my review, just to clarify overall this was a very pleasant lunch and we will definitely be back.
