Teach Me to Sew

Enjoyed a lovely mother/daughter day on the beginners' sewing day: a really informative and well structured day and we came away with some lovely cushions and bunting. Highly recommended.

I came from a fashion background but was useless at sewing. I stumbled across Maria and the rest is history. She is the fountain of knowledge and an expert in her craft. Not only was Maria patient with me, I learnt how to sew at the end of my workshop! Im chuffed beyond words and cant thank Maria enough for teaching me how to sew. Would I recommend Maria to anyone? Maria was very patient. A most enjoyable day. I came away with a beautiful cushion and some bunting that I never thought I could make.

Before I completed the City and Guilds level 1 course with Maria I was a complete beginner and had never really thought much of sewing. I had never used a sewing machine before and was worried that I would find this course hard. Maria gave lots of demonstrations was there for me every step of the way. I can't believe how much I learnt in such a short space of time. After learning how to use a machine, I was instantly hooked at how you can just shut off from the world and get creative with various fabrics. Maria taught me so many different skills and techniques during the course that I came home with handmade bags and pillows! I now am able to do alterations to my clothes which I never thought I would be able to do. It's nice to know that if I purchase clothing that doesn't fit perfectly I can confidently alter it. It's amazing how much you can learn in just only 5 days with Maria. I couldn't recommend her and the courses enough. Thanks again, Maria.
