Developments look nice, but the customer service is unprofessional, unreliable and unresponsive. Having spent 800k on a flat in Bristol in Sep 2018 (one of the two or three largest flats at the development) I discovered on the day of getting my keys that my parking spaces had been temporarily reassigned to a substitute building about a 5 minute walk away. A few months later I was notified that I might be able to use my parking spaces from around February 2019. Fast forward to August 2019 and I have still not received an update. I follow up with City and Country to learn that the reason I am not using my spaces is that theyve now been lent to another tenant, who since they might be on holiday, will need a few weeks to clear them and get them back. It is now 3 months later (November 2019) and I have heard nothing further on the matter. Typically Im not one to complain but feel it is a shame and a surprise that a company that with such a prestigious image can deal with a basic issue in such an unprofessional manner. Having spoken with other property owners I know my experience is not an isolated one. All prospective purchases should be under no illusion when purchasing their property through City and Country.

A great place to buy your new home. The properties are well designed and spacious. They have a charm about them that you can't get from a new build house. City and Country have a sensitive eye for detail and know how to restore a property to its former glory and repurpose it without losing its character.

What a disappointment. The houses only look nice from far, but the windows are not closing properly, materials missing, leaks (I mean serious leaks), and the list goes on. Every single house on our site has several problems. Some are very serious. City and Country's customer care is unreliable, unprofessional, full of empty promises and lies. They work very hard to keep customers in the dark. Refusing to answer emails, and in case they do answer, those are empty promises or simply lies. Their incompetence is so astonishing that it is hard to decide if they are really this awful or they do it on purpose. Their manners are questionable, and you cannot believe a word they are saying. Their standard is low, for them, windows letting through -5C air and street noise function perfectly. And that is just one example. That's what you can expect from this company. I have no idea how George Clarke can advertise their buildings. The quality and the customer care City and Country provides is way below acceptable. I do believe it is damaging his name and his credibility.

Reiterating some previous reviews about The 1840, our process in buying here has also been one of frustration. We understand the nature of the build and supply chain issues so we have to some extent been fairly relaxed about delays to completion. However, there is a general lack of transparency and, after all the delays and time C&C have had, a real lack of coordination, including needing to chase contact details for issues and being told our new home demonstration can only be done post-completion. Based on information we have heard over time, it smacks of an ambitious developer that possibly has grown too quickly and doesn't have enough staff experienced in C&C's business. It hasn't been as smooth as it should be so hopefully the build itself is better...

I am waiting to complete on one of the City & Country properties at 1840. So my comments here are not about the quality of the build which I would love to be able to share views on. Despite having being given an indication of completion in May 2022 (and pressure to exchange due to this) we are still waiting to get access to the apartment. While I understand there are delays with large builds the employees we are dealing with are not proactive in sharing information nor do they appear to be fully transparent with what they do provide. Every time we do get some information it is a different story to what we have heard before. Simple requests for information they do not seem able to provide. So while the properties look lovely (and I sincerely hope they are if we ever get to completion), I would not recommend signing yourself up through City & Country unless you are very very relaxed about a completion date. Its very disappointing for a company that seems to pride itself on Customer Care and sees that as a differentiator.
