Westgate Manor

Jed and I had a lovely stay at Westgate Manor this weekend. Service from Stewart and Catherine was lovely, very attentive and personable. The room we stayed in was absolutely stunning with a beautiful free standing bath and spacious shower. It was quiet, with beautiful views. A remote location, very romantic, and well worth the rather costly stay. Catherine must be a chef because the food was amazing. We had an evening meal, lamb shank and stuffed chicken, then also had two cooked breakfasts whilst we stayed. Beautiful. Thank you for a lovely weekend.

I loved my stay at Westgate Manor. Stuart and Kathryn offer warm but discreet hospitality and the hotel provides cosy guest lounges and a conservatory to enjoy Kathryns lovely breakfasts and dinners. I slept very well in a very cosy bed. All in all this was a great few days spent enjoying life in a country house and being well looked after. Upper Weardale itself offers a beautiful landscape with plenty of space and fresh air, friendly people and a fascinating history.

We stayed for one night before dropping our son at Durham Uni. Stuart and Katherine provided an exceptional service. From the moment we arrived, being greeted by our first names in the car park, until we left, we had rarely experienced such a personalised and attentive level of care. The dinner and breakfast were very good and a superb bottle of wine offered to us at a very reasonable mark up. The rooms with four poster beds were the real wow factor! Decorated to such a high standard with so many thoughtful touches. We would highly recommend Westgate Manor and look forward to returning.
