Don't use Penmans! We used them to sell a buy to let property to first time buyers (ie no chain), so a very simple transaction. We made it clear (both verbally and backed up with documentation from our estate agent) that we wanted them to agree a target completion date with the buyers solicitor (we have mortgages to pay and no rent coming in). As the date approached, I queried why we hadn't heard anything and why a date had not been communicated (we were told there were no issues, all actions were complete and the buyer was keen to get the keys). Penmans claimed to know nothing about the target date and said the buyers solicitor were also unaware which is nonsense. I challenged them as they act on our behalf and all communication with the buyer / buyers solicitor goes through Penmans. Rather than taking responsibility for missing something and not communicating effectively, Delyth (handing our case) threw her toys out of the pram and said we should find new representation. We refused as didn't want to delay the sale unnecessarily. When they finally got around to having a conversation with the buyers solicitor, a date was agreed and we completed 2 days later! There was clearly no good reason why things were not moving, other than inaction on the part of both sets of solicitors. What really disappointed us was Delyth's reaction which was incredibly arrogant

Very unprofessional! We used Penman's to deal with the sale of our flat and we couldn't be more dissatisfied with their service. They don't reply to emails, when we called they always said they would call back, they failed at keeping us updated on the progress of the sale, they didn't deal with the buyers' enquiries in an efficient and professional manner and a long etcetera. It took a lot of pushing from our side to get updates and to finally get to completion but the process was extremely stressful. We completed the sale of our property two months ago and they still haven't sent us the completion paperwork and I am unable to get hold of them. I do not recommend them at all!
