Horrible experience. Lady dealing with my case was rude and no help whatsoever. It's a miracle anyone gets anything out of them and an even bigger miracle if they help if you back into work.

This place is the epitome of a depressing environment. The staff have absolutely no empathy for the jobseeker, although I do understand they must have to deal with some complete wasters which must be frustrating. When Ive been unfortunate enough to have to use their services, it is a tale of constant haranguing and harassing and being given the impression that I should be grateful for receiving my payments. As another reviewer has mentioned, they never seem to read the journal before the appointment, the same journal that I have spent quite some time meticulously filling in. Therefore, its typically 50 questions before we even get on to how THEY are going to help me find a (suitable) job. In fact, they dont actually help at all. I have been actively encouraged to go on totally irrelevant courses which neither stimulate nor interest me and which are, at the end of the day, worth zip to anyone. The DWP, like many British institutions, needs grass roots reform. They can start by giving more emphasis to re-training and up skilling those that want to climb out of this situation with relevant courses, take into account claimants current mental and social conditions and appearing, if nothing else, as if they are putting more emphasis on getting younger/foreign claimants out into work to start paying their way, rather than keep push push pushing older UK born claimants back out of the door.

I was made redundant in mid January 2023, I applied for Job Seekers Allowance. I would just like to say that the staff I had contact with (Mandy and Wendy) were so helpful and absolutely very positive with me. It was very daunting for me as I had not been in this predicament before. I have now been accepted a job and I wanted to let Mandy and Wendy know how appreciative that I am to them, so called in to let Mandy know I had a job offer Id just like to say Thank you both Today I also witnessed abuse to a member who of staff in the Job centre, something I had not seen before but have realised that this is probably a daily occurrence. Im probably going to get a lot of negative comments but I can only go with my experience and what I have seen. I have the utmost respect for people working in this environment and what I have seen. Again many thanks for the help I have received and I just would like to give recognition to I the staff and for what can sometimes a very difficult/challenging job.

If I could give zero stars, I would. Terrible service, they don't read the journals (utter waste of time) and they do not answer the 'phone. I have no idea what they actually do.
