To whom it may concern, I own the lake and the surrounding land, being an ex Police officer may I point out, there are enough "NO FISHING" signs around the lake. We work closely with the Police, and will PROSECUTE any person fishing illegally at Ashton Moss Nature Reserve. Fishing was stopped because of discarded fishing lines, rubbish left behind and fish illegally put in the lake, which as most "responsible" fishermen know, carries a very hefty fine, for doing so. I also wish to point out, it was just after the first review, we took the decision to have the pond netted of all fish, this was done legally with all paperwork and protocol adhered to. This netting procedure will be done again if we suspect any further transfer of fish has taken place. Greater Manchester Police Dog Handler Team, do patrol Ashton Moss Nature Reserve, at various times of day and night, for the purpose of exercising their dogs, and will challenge and arrest any person, who is fishing, or in possession of fishing gear.
