Orchard View Retreat was a perfectly practical place for us to stay with our 2 dogs. It is in a lovely quiet location, but an easy 10 minute drive to access all of Clactons amenities and shops/takeaways. The enclosed garden area was great, as we had no worries about the dogs escaping, and we could sit outside making use of the garden furniture. The caravan was clean and had everything we needed, including a freezer compartment, great for ice cream on the hot days.. My wife and dogs loved the hammock, so much so I ordered one for home, the hot tub is a nice touch, but not something we used. We would definitely stay again

Myself, my husband and our 13-year-old son stayed for two nights at the Orchard Retreat, and we can highly recommend it. It's so peaceful, and the view from the large bay window is incredible. We enjoyed watching deer wander in the distance, and watching the sunset in the evening. The firepit was lovely to sit around in the evening whilst observing the stars. I downloaded a constellation app, so we could see what the stars were, and where the satellites were orbiting the earth (bit of a nerd) There are numerous board games to use, books to read and even binoculars to take a closer look at the wildlife. Everything was clean and tidy and very well equipped. We took some food with us, but on a Saturday evening ordered food to be delivered via JustEat, with no issues. The hot tub is in a superb position for privacy and to enjoy the scenery. Our Son spent a lot of time in there, as did I, and it was pure bliss. Our only complaint would be that we would have stayed longer if we could. Hopefully, next time we will.

Booked a stay Mon-Fri for some much needed R&R. Check in was easy as all instructions were emailed prior to arrival and were easy to understand. Couldn't fault the location, the property or the surroundings. Had very little interaction with the hosts (waved to Dean twice the entire week), but if we needed them, we had mobile numbers and believe someone was available next door and believe they would have helped with any issues we might have encountered. Had a lovely welcome basket, selections of games, dvds, smart TV (with Netflix) and free WiFi. The scenery and sunsets from the window were amazing, and due to little light pollution could see plenty of stars clearly. Close proximity to a number of beaches and Colchester Zoo. A pub is recommended in the folder, but I can't remember the name of it... Definitely worth a visit though as the food was amazing Only downsides is not having a curtain on one window (no one can see in), but think this was so you could make the most of the views - just means if someone's inside and someone's in the hot tub the lights reduce star disability, and the WiFi had a tendancy to drop, but this was mainly around midnight when most people would be sleeping so for most people wouldn't be an issue. I'd recommend making the most of the breakfast hamper that's offered, for 5 a person it's something we wish we had known prior to arriving as we'd already got food for the week. If we're looking for a break away in that part of the country, would happily stay there again.
