Camped here back in July and had a brilliant stay. Great spot in the sunset camping field, friendly check-in and nice facilities. I will be back.

I am a secondary school teacher and have just come back from taking a group of students on a surfing weekend to Polzeath. This is the second time we have used the camp site. Last year we drove the minibus's into the main entrance and was told that we were camping on the top field and to move the bus's there. This year, when we booked, we were told we would be using the same field and so drove the busses directly to the field. As we arrived many of the kids were bursting for the loo as they had been sat on the bus for 4 hours so myself and another female member of staff took them down to the toilet block so they could go. Some of the pupils who had sprinted ahead of us (they were that desperate) came back up the track to tell me they were not allowed to go into the toilets. I went and knocked on the door and a lady called through and told me the gents were closed for cleaning. I (very politely) explained that they had been on a bus for 4 hours/crossing their legs etc, could they possibly just quickly use the loos and come straight out again. The lady left the loos and walked off to the reception and I sent the kids in. Shortly after a man walked out of the reception and came towards me asking if I was in charge. I said yes and he started ranting at me about the fact the kids were in the toilets. I explained, again, that they were desperate and he told me that they would have to use the women's or go in the hedge. I said we could not have boys in the women's loos (for safeguarding reasons) and some of them were not wanting the loos for just wees. He seemed to get himself more and more worked up and started gesticulating in a very animated manner. I had a group of girls stood behind me while this man continued to shout and rave. He then started throwing out wildly confrontational questions like 'are you going to keep control of them?' and 'don't you leave any litter on this site!' He was particularly cross that we did not book in before allowing them to use the loos. When I offered to come with him to book in he said there was 'no point'. He became so confrontational and verbally aggressive I was unable to get a word in. During a momentary break from the verbal diarrhoea that came out of this mans mouth I sent the worried looking students back to the other staff on the field. Later on he did come up to the field and have a slightly calmer conversation with our male members of staff. We will not be using the camp site again. I get the impression the manager was not a fan of children generally so perhaps he will not be too bothered with this. I have also reported the incident with our county trips manager so that no other school in our county will be able to book onto his site again. On a slightly more positive note the little coffee shack on site was delightful and the gentleman who ran it could not have been more helpful or accommodating.
