We stayed at St Michael's House with a group of friends. It's a nice, characterful house for 6 people but I feel describing it as sleeping 11 is misleading. This number includes people using a double sofa bed in the living room, which renders the room unusable, unless the bed is put back and made up every night and a tiny room upstairs with a sloping floor, in which there is a bed only suited to a child and a z bed, not suited to anyone. In addition, there is one nice bathroom upstairs but the second one leaves a lot to be desired. The doors do not fit and when someone uses it in the night, it sounds as if they're in the room, if you're next door. Which is not pleasant! I'd suggest this should be marketed as a house sleeping 7 or maybe 7 + 4. The living and dining areas are fine, if no one is using the sofa bed. The kitchen is a little confined for a large group. There's a lovely pub in walking distance though and I recommend the nearby St Peters brewery tour!

We absolutely loved staying in St Michael's cottage- lots of lovely cottagy details plus a super garden for our dog. Everything we needed was there and it felt very spacious and clean. After being in the city it was very peaceful and therapeutic- the surrounding countryside provides lots of walks. We really liked the church just along the road - beautifully maintained inside with its wooden pews. Thank you for a wonderful week with our family. We did the jigsaws as provided and enjoyed the books too. Also netflix/amazon prime available. The night time is stunning there. You can see so many stars!!

For pure escapism this characterful property is difficult to beat, with many exposed beams and few perpendicular doors. Spacious interior, even if fully occupied. Good communal spaces but enough rooms inside and space in the garden, if you want some quiet time for e.g. reading. Big plain garden, surrounded by trees and shrubs. Feed the birds! Woodpeckers seen and heard. No shops nearby. Nearest pub, the Rumburgh Buck, is 1.5 miles away. Friendly local, serving basic pub grub and good local real ales. Only missing a couple of touches to be a 5*.
