Both of my children attend Hurst Primary School and are very happy there. The school has a strong sense of community and teachers are friendly and extremely supportive with the pupils and parents. I chose this school because of it's warm and personable approach and I liked how the older children (who assisted with the initial showround) interacted with the teachers, in a positive, respectful and confident manner. I can confirm that my first impression of the school is a true reflection of the schools culture. My eldest is now in year 4 and the school has exceeded my expectations, with delivering additional topics to include 'emotional resilience' and awarding children not only for their efforts in core subjects but for how they conduct themselves and treat others. Children are encouraged to follow the school 'Golden Rules' and if demonstrated they'll be rewarded lunchtime awards, citizen of the week in assembly and other forms of acknowledgement for good behaviour. In addition, the school is set in spacious grounds, with it's own woodland where 'forest school' is conducted for infants. The school is big on sporting activity and provides after school clubs in gymnastics, football club, rugby, cricket and more. Best of luck with your application if this school is your first option.
