Im a long time student and going to Andy Roberts BJJ has changed my life for the better. I was nervous when I first walked through the door in 2018. But my nerves went away as the instructors are friendly and will work with you. Since coming to ARBJJ my social life has changed Ive met so many friendly people and made life long friendships with amazing people.

My review is about kids' training on Tuesdays and Fridays. Over the years, the club has transitioned from a non-competitive to a more competitive approach in kids' training. While there are new faces that appear from time to time, they usually only stay for about six months up to a year. Out of the original group from 2021, my child is the only one who has remained. If you want your child to learn neck submission, wrist submission, elbow submission, and shoulder submission with a coach-to-child ratio of 6 to 1, this club may be a good fit. However, grading is ambiguous as there are no clear criteria for measuring progress. Children who attend one class per week receive the same belts as those who attend two classes per week in the same timeframe. Boys and girls train together, and girls are favored to compensate for their physical abilities or lack thereof. I have heard coaches say, "Get them girls," but never, "Get them boys." In this setting, boys may feel the need to impress girls, resulting in overdone techniques and behaviors. The atmosphere is generally positive, and the club is growing. Andy, who was trained by Roger, ensures that the lineage is maintained. However, it is not the right fit for us at this time. Best of luck to those who choose to continue training here. P.S. It would be helpful if one of the coaches stopped speeding up and swerving into a corner in the club's car park/drag strip near the entrance.
