What on earth is going on with the North American fund? Values are plummeting paper loss horror. Is anything being done to address the decline?? Also the global growth fund too many risky tech constituents. Not happy with performance

Iv'e invested in funds that Baillie Gifford manage over the past few years and even my grandparents have previously and we highly recommend to friends and family. Profited every time we've invested (doesn't mean everyone will)

I Invested probably at the right time and made a decent amount. During turbulent times; tech stocks crashed with Nasdaq100 and there was a lot of noise around the uncertainty of tech stocks recovering. I chose to ignore the noise and stick to my own strategy and invested more into the Baillie Gifford American fund. Within a few short months it has pretty much recovered. I like the investment style of BG, they look at companies that drive innovation, are revolutionary and pioneer disruptive tech in their field. They have a time horizon of 5-10 years, which is in line with my own. I also like the fact that they invest in private equities where most of the ROIs are made in my opinion. I also feel like BG are very similar to ARK invest which I would choose alongside BG should it be made available to us in the UK. Ill be sticking with BG for quite some time, and should the NAV deviate lower from the moving average, Ill be sure to pick up a bargain. From my initial investment Ive made about 50% return but as I reinvested when it dropped, its averaged out to 36.5% as seen in attached image. ***Please note this is my personal experience and you should never make a decision based on a review; do your own research and ensure that the fund you decide to invest in falls in line with your own strategy. This is not the only fund I've invested however, it does hold a good weight on my portfolio.

I am a fan of some of Baillie Gifford's funds and a client to their investment share plan and ISA through regular savings. However, they are horrendously slow operationally when it comes to selling investments. It often takes more than a week from initiating an order on their website, to dealing (which takes T+2) and then BACS takes another 2-3 days to one's bank account. I can that understand that clearing and BACS payment transfers have set schedules for completion. However, the time from order placement to order execution takes longer than I would expect. For example, I placed orders on a working hours Friday and it was not executed until the Tuesday after. I know that these orders are batched up but in this day and age, Baillie Gifford should find ways to ensure they are more efficient, especially if they are charging more than 20 per transaction and extortionate amounts in dealing fees. Investor expectations are changing and the FCA should be looking into this. Please keep up with the times, Baillie Gifford!
