(Translated by Google) The food is ordinary and not special, and the food menu is very limited. I did not like the samosas, but the good thing about them is that they are not greasy (Original)

We were visiting London in April, and after hearing much about the hype of Indian cuisine in the UK, we decided to visit Chutney Mary on a Wednesday evening for dinner. Amaya and Veeraswamy were other restaurants we were considering, but these places did not have openings that day. Aspects of Chutney Mary that stood out were its location, dcor, ambience, and presentation. Letdowns included service and flavor. Talking about service, I specifically asked for cognac, neat, but was served cognac on the rocks. Upon clarifying with the server, I was conveniently served the same cognac after removing the ice (the cognac was cold and diluted at this point). I let that slide by, but did inform the server at the end of our meal. Regarding food and flavor, we had the vegetable crudits, spicy chicken wings, a vegetable kofta-like dish, butter chicken, Goa chicken curry, naans, souffl and carrot halwa with pistachio ice cream, and ginger toffee pudding. Being a vegetarian, I'll comment about the vegetarian offerings and desserts. The presentation was fantastic, but everything tasted just mediocre (reminded me of something I would cook for a weekend meal and for which I wouldn't necessarily spend top dollar). Apparently, the chicken dishes were on the better side, but not great. The desserts were unique, but they didn't really stand out taste-wise. Overall, our experience was just average and we were left unimpressed. Vegetarian options: Few vegetarian selections, but that works in a way!
